Rajan Rawal is Executive Director of Centre for Advanced Research in Building Science and Energy (CARBSE), He also served as head of the undergraduate program at Design at Faculty of Design, CEPT University, Ahmedabad INDIA. He is a registered architect, graduated from School of Architecture, Institute of Environmental Design, Vallabh Vidyanagar. He worked with Vastu Shilpa Foundation for Studies and Research in Environmental Design before joining Faculty of Design, CEPT University, Ahmedabad. He teaches design and construction courses as part of undergraduate program & energy efficient built environment at post graduate level. His work emphasis is on 'energy performance of buildings and cities' and 'architectural science education'. He is involved in research and development activities at CEPT University and coordinates the activities of CARBSE. He is also serving with "Gujarat Public Service Commission" as an architect expert. He is member of technical core committee for benchmarking of building, Window Labelling Program committee at Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Member of National Building code BIS -CED 46 on Sustainable Buildings, Technical Committee member for GRIHA rating system, and technical expert at India Green Building Council.Prof. Rawal is recognized trainer for building simulation tools and IGBC authorized evaluator for LEED certification rating for commercial buildings, and Green Homes. He is founder member secretary of India Chapter of International Building Performance Simulation Association (IBPSA) and also serves at IBPSA world committee. He has number of research papers, technical reports and three books to his credits. Dr. Yashkumar Shukla is Technical Director (Energy Systems) at Centre for Advanced Research in Building Science and Energy (CARBSE). He has more than fifteen years of international experience in building energy-efficiency research and serves as a lead on several energy-efficiency research projects at CARBSE. His current research includes calibration of simulation models, performance characterization of envelope and HVAC systems, net-zero energy buildings, and development of next-generation control algorithms.
He has extensive experience in the building management systems, building energy analysis, HVAC system operation, component characterization facilities, development of test chambers, building simulation modeling, and energy efficiency control algorithms. His prior work experience also includes providing technical support in designing and implementing commercial and residential energy-efficiency programs throughout the US.
He has completed Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from Nirma Institute of Technology, Ahmedabad; Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A & M University, College Station; and Doctor of Philosophy from CEPT University, Ahmedabad. He possesses several professional certifications including certified measurements and verification professional (CMVP), Home energy rating system (HERS), GRIHA Trainer, and ECBC Master Trainer. He has also served on technical committees at various national and international forums. He has published more than twenty peer-reviewed academic papers.

Asha B. Joshi serves as Administrative Manager at CARBSE. She holds a Masters degree in Law with specialization in Environmental Law and International Legal Order from Gujarat University. She was awarded gold medal for her performance during her graduation from Saurashtra University. With working experience of 11 years in area of administration, publications and human resource management, she joined CARBSE in 2009. She worked with Icfai Business School, Research Centre, Ahmedabad before joining current position; she was associated with International Development Enterprises (India).

Jayamin D.Patel holds M.Sc. degree in Physics from Saurashtra University. He joined Centre for Advanced Research in Building Science and Energy as Laboratory Technician in October 2015. Prior to joining CARBSE he was working as a Technical Officer (R&D) in Sahajanand Laser Technology Limited, Gandhinagar. Before this he worked as Laboratory Technician in Building Energy Performance Limited, CEPT University, Ahmedabad. Prior to this he was working as a Technical Assistant at Physical Testing Division of Ahmedabad Textile Industries Research Association (A.T.I.R.A.) Ahmedabad. His areas of interest are Atmospheric Science, Fluid Mechanics, Solid State Physics, Material Science, Thermodynamics, Optics, Programmable Logic Controller and Computational Methods.
Manish Salvi is working as an Admin and Account Assistant at CARBSE. He looks after accounts, administration and facility management related works at CARBSE. Deepta Mishra is a Senior Research Associate at Centre for Advanced Research in Building Science and Energy, CEPT University, Ahmedabad. He has completed his B.tech in Instrumentation and Electronics Engineering from BPUT, Odisha followed by M.tech from Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal, Karnataka with Control Systems specialization.As a part of his post-graduation thesis work, he has worked as a research intern at Indian Institute of Astrophysics, Bangalore. As a research intern, his responsibility was to develop a mathematical model for a soft actuator and design an active control system for Prototype Segmented Mirror Telescope ( PSMT) under development at IIA Bangalore. Prior to joining CARBSE, He has one year of teaching experience in the subjects like Analog Electronics, Control Systems, Signals and Systems. Aniket Deore is a Research Associate at Centre of Advance Research in Building Sciences and Energy (CARBSE), CEPT University. Kartikay Sharma is a Research Associate at Centre for Advanced Research Building Science and Energy (CARBSE) CEPT University. He completed his Post Graduation in M. Tech in Building Energy Performance from CEPT University and holds Bachelor of Engineering degree in Civil from GTU, Gujarat.His over-all goal is to become key individual to promote and execute energy efficiency drivers for the nation. As part of the studies he conducted a research on "India's Path to low carbon building stock: Estimating energy savings potential for commercial building stock". Arjun is a Research Associate at Centre for Advanced Research Building Science and Energy (CARBSE) CEPT University. He has completed his M.Tech in Building Energy Performance from CEPT University and holds Bachelor of engineering degree in Civil from GTU. He aspires to focus on improving the Energy Efficiency in buildings through research and their application. Sachin is a Research Associate at the Centre for Advanced Research in Building Science and Energy (CARBSE), CEPT University. He has completed his Master's degree in Regional and Urban Planning with Infrastructure Planning Specialization from CEPT University, Ahmedabad. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering (SJCE) - Mysuru, Karnataka.As a part of his Post Graduation thesis, he has worked on "Reviewing the Swachh Survekshan framework for assessing the cities based on Cleanliness". The study majorly focused on understanding the effectiveness of the Swachh Survekshan framework for assessing the cities based on cleanliness.
Further, the study also focused on analyzing the impact of the Swachh Survekshan framework on the governing bodies (ULBs and State governing bodies) towards improving their service deliverance for the citizens. Apart from this, as a part of his studio project, he has worked on assessing the technical and financial efficiency of the Water Distribution Stations. This study majorly focused on demonstrating the potential usage of SCADA data and proposal of suitable interventions for enhancing the efficiency of the water distribution stations thereby leading to a more efficient water supply network. He is currently working on incorporating the municipal energy services in the iNtelligent Urban Model for Built environment Energy Research (iNUMBER).

Vishnu Vardhan is a Research Associate at Center for Advanced Research in Building Science and Energy (CARBSE), CEPT University. He holds a graduate degree (B.E.) in Mechanical with specialisation in Energy Engineering from VIT University, Vellore. During undergraduate studies, he worked on multiple research-based projects relevant to the themes of climate and building sustainability. His research primarily included the analysis of particulate matter deposition on heritage facades through experimental and computational methods, the estimation of thermal properties of organic facades in an urban context, etc. The results of these projects were published internationally.
After completing his degree, he joined the Centre for Scientific Research/Studio Naqshbandi at Auroville, where he worked as a Building Energy Analyst on the U.S.-India Joint Center for Building Energy Research & Development (CBERD) project. His responsibilities included technical documentation and data analysis of the passive design strategies across seven naturally ventilated buildings in the warm-humid climate. He also conducted component level thermal monitoring in a building as a part of an independent study which focussed on highlighting the performance of sustainable building fabrics.
At CARBSE, his responsibilities entail the study of globally developed personal comfort systems, the documentation of appropriate material selection and design strategies for climate responsive buildings in the warm-humid tropics, and more. His career objective is to develop scientific yet lucid communication methods in the field of building sustainability by inter twining the disciplines of engineering, architecture, and economics.

Saranya is a Research Associate at Centre for Advanced Research in Building Science and
Energy (CARBSE). She has completed her master’s degree from CEPT University specializing
in Building Energy Performance (M.Tech BEP). She has a bachelor's degree in Architecture,
with two-years of on-field experience. After her masters, she pursued a 6 months funded
research internship at SBS lab at the University of Colorado Boulder, to develop Open source
Modelica based models for Direct evaporative cooling systems.
Her master’s capstone research was a part of a research internship at CARBSE, that focused on the development and validation of switching control algorithms for Mixed mode building through co-simulation approach. Her fields of interest include building energy simulations, alternative and low energy cooling systems, building controls and net zero building design.

Palak Patel is a Research Associate at Centre for Advanced Research in Building Science and Energy (CARBSE). She is pursuing masters in Urban Infrastructure planning and holds bachelors degree in Architecture from G.C.P.I.A, Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, with one and half years of on-field experience. As a part of her Post Graduation thesis, she has worked on Directed Research Project of “Assessing the building level energy consumption for the water services” as a part of iNumber project. The project is based on the city of Ahmedabad and focused on measuring the electricity consumption for water supply of residential typologies, further assessing it with various urban parameters. Umang Patel is a Research Assistant at Center for Advanced Research in Building Science and Energy (CARBSE), CEPT University. Anmol Mathur is a research intern at CARBSE, CEPT University. He is currently pursuing MTech in Building Energy Performance from CEPT University. He has graduated as an architect from USAP Delhi. His past experience at Ashok.B.Lall Architects includes Project management for a LEED Platinum Warehousing and storage facility for Gainwell Commosales, a unit of Caterpillar Inc.
He has also worked on LEED & WELL certification projects at Environmental Design Solutions (EDS Global).
Anmol is currently researching on Urban Energy Modelling (UEM) and is working to evaluate the relationship between UEM's Level of Detail and accuracy for a suitable model development framework for Indian cities.
