Guidance On Annual Operation Mode For Buildings In India – Technical Guide

The necessity for indoor thermal comfort is the main driver of building energy demand worldwide. The built environment designers aim to provide thermal comfort to occupants as energy-efficiently as possible. The purpose of this guide is to enable the users to design the operating modes for space conditioning for buildings in a given climate zone, without sacrificing thermal comfort. The hourly operating schedules of the common operating modes such as cooling, heating, natural ventilation, humidification, and dehumidification for 60 representative cities in different climate zones are presented in this guide. The Indian Model for Adaptive Comfort (IMAC), which was adopted into the National Building Code of India 2016 (NBC) has been used to derive the criteria for the operational modes.
